JAY SCHWARTZ, A REFORMER, WAS RECOGNIZED BY THE GROUP AS A VASTLY MORE ENGAGED INDIVIDUAL WHO VEHEMENTLY OPPOSES THE PRISON. THE GROUP FELT THAT DISTRICT 2 COMMISSIONER MCCLUSKEY WAS HOSTILE TO THE ANTI PRISON MOVEMENT AND CAMPAIGNED TIRELESSLY FOR JAY AS A RESULT.
WE DO RECOGNIZE THAT COMMISSIONER MCCLUSKEY IS A DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVANT AND THANK HIM FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF PEMBROKE PINES AND WEST BROWARD.
THE RESIDENT GROUP'S POLITICAL CLOUT AND EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE MAY BE FOCUSED OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS ON THOSE FEDERAL ELECTED OFFICIALS SUCH AS DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ AND SENATOR BILL NELSON, AND SOUTHWEST RANCHES ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO EITHER ENDORSE THE PRISON, OR STEADFASTLY REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THE 90+% OF THE PEOPLE AND ACTIVELY OPPOSE THE PRISON.
WE APPLAUD COMMISSIONER ANGELO CASTILLO'S PUSH FOR A RESOLUTION TO SEND A LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA ASKING HIM TO CANCEL PLANS FOR THIS PRISON.
WE HOPE THAT WITH COMMISSIONER SCHWARTZ, AND VICE MAYOR SIPLE, THE THREE OF THEM CAN: 1. ENSURE THAT THE WOMEN'S PRISON (BCI) IS PERMENENTLY SHUT ON MAY 1ST AND **NEVER** FALLS INTO CCA'S HANDS, 2. THAT THE REMAINING PLAT ZONED FOR A 4000 BED MEN'S FACILITY IS ANNEXED INTO PEMBROKE PINES AND ZONING FOR A PRISON ELIMIATED, AND 3. EVERY EFFORT IS MADE TO THWART SOUTHWEST RANCHES, ICE AND CCA FROM EVER BUILDING ANY PRISON ON THE REMAINING 20 ACRES IN SOUTHWEST RANCHES.

Elected officials do you hear us yet? Or are your heads still up your a$$es? If you don't hear us yet, you'll be hearing us soon. Nelson and council, DWS and Senator Nelson...this is directed at you. DWS, you're toast and so is Obama in this district. Florida is a swing state and leaning more to the right every day.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your comment. However, the Commission seat is non partisan position. This was very much a referendum on the Prison as opposed to anybody's politics.
Bill Nelson, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Jeff Nelson, Breitkreuz, Fisikelli, Jablonski, and McKay all want the prison. They are on the wrong side of this. They decided to take the low road and sell out to a terrible corporation rather than take the high road and represent their CURRENT constituency. America is greater than believing a private prison is our only road to prosperity.
These politicians have firmly set themselves up as targets to be voted out of office irrespective of their political leanings.
You PEOPLE seem to forget that Siple voted in favor of the prison over 3 times before Ziadie got into the race.
ReplyDeleteNext time check out ALL the facts before you support the wrong candidate again. Check the past videos on the Pines website and you will see the real truth about how Siple voted.
We most certainly didn't forget that. She's certainly come around on the issue, though, hasn't she? And where was Ziadie during this whole fight? I don't remember seeing him nor do I remember BREC being any sort of help to us. C'est la vie.... We are beyond looking at who is right or who is wrong, but rather look at what is right and what is wrong.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, that was a pretty bad showing for a republican candidate running against a democratic incumbent who voted three times for the prison. Maybe the Republicans should get their hands out of CCA's pants long enough to at least win when it's only their base going out to vote in a presidential primary.
You Republicans want support? Then I suggest you stop prostrating yourself to such hideous crony capitalists like CCA. We just proved that grassroots on the street will overcome any amount of money special interests spend. Don't you checked pants, double knit slack wearing country club RINOs get that? You just want the easy way out by taking tainted money.
