Is it Safe for Them to go Back Into the Water? |
It's as if the law firm of Becker Poliakoff doesn't even understand the basics of protected first amendment political speech. Bob Norman's News 10 reported on Thursday, October 11th, 2012. Where is the Town Council reviewing the decisions of Town Attorney Keith Polaikoff? Also, watch the Norman piece to see the Town Attorney Keith Poliakoff turn tail and run from the camera and refusing to justify his anti first amendment position.
Keith Poliakoff has broken decorum by actually supporting the pro prison, incumbent mayor Jeff Nelson in the upcoming election. Strangely, it's only been Nelson's opponents who have been cited by Code Enforcement which works under the direction of the Town Attorney. We wonder if Mayor Nelson and Poliakoff actually hatched this hair brained attempt to limit free speech themselves or are just acting "independently" on the complaints of pro Nelson supporter and intimidator, Dee Schroeder. It would be in character with Poliakoff's "cone of silence", repeated stonewalling of public records requests, and infamous email where he advised the Town Council to keep the prison plans quiet because "the sharks are circling" to try and suppress dissent elsewhere.
Here are the simple facts:
- The Code Enforcement department is at the direction of the Town Attorney
- The Town Attorney has the ability to override judgements of the Magistrate
- The Town Attorney asked Stan Morris to require the candidate to turn in permits for small signs
- The same Town Attorney is supporting the incumbent's reelection campaign with thousands of dollars and fundraisers. $1300.00 came directly or indirectly to Mayor Jeff Nelson's campaign from the Town Attorney; Becker & Poliakoff, P.A.
